Nepal-India border districts discuss containment of cross-border crime

Baitadi, Nov 29 (RSS): A meeting of the Nepal-India Coordination Committee that concluded in Pithoragarh, India Sunday discussed the containment of untoward incidences cross-border crimes.

District Administration Office, Baitadi information officer Khagendra Bharati said the meeting agreed to take measures against all sorts of criminal activities likely to take place on the Nepal-India local administrative border points.

Controlling possible cases of cross-border human trafficking and drugs smuggling, restoration of Jhulaghat Suspension Bridge and management of ghats along the border points were the agenda of the discussions in the bilateral meeting.
Likewise, the meeting agreed to implement a provision requiring the possession of an identity card for the cross-border movement and to make efforts for addressing other possible border issues.

More, the meeting discussed the matters of facilitating ex-servicemen of Indian Army of Nepali origin to draw pension from banks and the closure of border points during the upcoming local elections.

Pithoragarh district Officer Dr Ashish Chauhan took charge of the coordinator in the meeting attended by Chief District Officers of Baitadi and Darchula, chiefs of districts-based security bodies and custom officers
