6-point MoU signed between Nepal and China

13 Sep, Kathmandu: A 6-point memorandum of understanding was signed to continue for five years regarding the development of the Federal Parliament of Nepal and cooperation. The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Honorable Speaker of the Federal Parliament Agni Prasad Sapkota and His Excellency Li Changshu, Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee of the People’s Republic of China.

In the six points of the agreement, it is stated that both parties have agreed to strengthen and develop mutual trust, to respect each other’s independence, sovereignty, and geographical integrity, to respect each other’s freely chosen social system and development path, and to support each other’s core interests in important matters. Similarly, it is said that both sides will try to strengthen inter-parliamentary exchange and cooperation at all levels through multilateral means to deepen the relationship between the two nations and the people and contribute to the cooperation.

Likewise, it is mentioned that both sides will give priority to high-level visits and exchanges of contact between the two legislatures of Nepal and the People’s Republic of China. The MoU states that both parties will encourage and support parliamentary-friendly groups to increase their engagement and play an active role in promoting harmony and understanding between the two legislatures.
