Kathmandu, July 24 In the last fiscal year 2078/79, 29 species of animals including rare and endangered wild animals in the park died due to natural causes, accidents, poaching and other reasons.
Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, information officer of the park, informed that among the animals that died in the park and in the intermediate area from July 1, 2078 to June 32, 2079, Chital species were the most. According to Tiwari, 86 chitals died last year. Tiwari said that among the chittals that died, 52 were attacked by dogs, 15 were due to natural causes, 14 were caught in tarjali, four were road accidents and the cause of death of one chittal was not revealed.
Similarly, 37 rhinos died last year. Out of which, 33 natural causes, two poachers, one falling into a ditch and one rhinoceros, the cause of death has not been revealed, according to Information Officer Tiwari. Likewise, 10/10 of Arna, Zarayo and Boar died last year. All ten deer, seven wild boars and eight boars died of natural causes. Moreover, one boar and one boar died due to a wire mesh, one boar died in a road accident and one boar was bitten by a dog, while the cause of death of one boar was not revealed.
Similarly, in the same year, six tigers, five Ratuas, five Lagunas, four Ghadial crocodiles, three Bhundifour Garudas, three Nir cats and three Magar crocodiles have died. Information officer Tiwari informed that although most of the animals died due to natural causes, some of them were road accidents and the cause of death of others was not revealed. Also, Tiwari said that elephants, snakes, pythons, nilgai, chakhewa and monkeys died, two each.
Bear, leopard, vulture, peacock, dumsi, water duck, cow, malaha cat, gourigai, turtle and bakulla have died one by one in the park. Last year, 114 animals died due to natural causes, 59 due to dog attacks, 16 due to wire netting, 11 due to road accidents, two due to poaching, one due to falling into a pit, and the reason for the death of 12 animals was not revealed, informed Tiwari.
Last year alone, Chitwan National Park rescued 222 animals from various places in the forest area and intermediate areas. Tiwari stated, 154 pythons, 14 chitals, nine alligators, eight turtles, seven tigers, and seven snakes including one Raj Goman (King Cobra) were rescued last year, and that four Lagunas, three Rhinos, three Nirbiralos, two Nilgai, two Chil and two Ratuas were rescued.
Last year, the park has rescued one each of leopard cubs, vultures, jays, latoxeros, bald eagles, wild boars and peacocks. Chitwan National Park is spread over an area of ​​952.63 square kilometers in Nawalpur, Nawalparasi, Chitwan, Makwanpur and Parsa districts. Similarly, the central area of ​​this park is spread over an area of ​​729.37 square kilometers of these five districts, according to the park.
